Overview
The Maintain Announcements application allows users to create custom announcements which target a specific set of stores. Announcements will appear on the store home page for a set period of time, set by the user. This document describes the working of the application.
Operation
The following fields are present on the form:

| Title | Specifies the title for the announcement. This should be a short, relevant piece of text that explains the purpose of the announcement. Much like the subject of an email, it is shown on the store announcements summary screen, and users can click on it to see the full description. | ||||||
| Created | Specifies the create date of the announcement; defaulting to today. The user can change the create date to a future date to delay the appearance of an announcement (only announcements with Create Date < Now < Obsolete Date are shown to relevant stores). | ||||||
| Expires | Specifies the expiry date of the announcement. Once the announcement expires, it will no longer be visible to stores. | ||||||
| Urgent | Sets a flag indicating whether the announcement is urgent. Urgent announcements are emphasized in the store announcements screen, and shown with a red exclamation mark to draw attention. | ||||||
| Type | Selects the announcement type. Announcement types are drawn from a customer setup name (of type "Announcement Type"). Administrators can maintain the announcement types using the Maintain Names application. | ||||||
| Description | Specifies the body of the announcement. Users can only see the full description when they click on the title of the announcement and view the announcement details report. | ||||||
| Select By | Allows the user to change the selection method for targeting stores. This affects the contents of the Locations grid, and can only be changed if the Locations grid is empty. For example if you choose Store State, you will be able to select one or more states in the Locations grid, and against each state selection select either all stores or a single store to target within that state. | ||||||

This grid is only enabled if Select By is set to a value other than All Stores. It defines the subset of stores who will see this announcement. The Locations grid has two columns:

| Link URL |
Specifies one or more links to any valid URL. These links are shown as an attachment in the announcement, when viewed by other users. Clicking on the attachment link will open the target URL in a new window.
